Horrible Experience — They Stole My Money and Acted Illegally
When I went to the rental car agency to pick up my vehicle, they claimed that my driving license wasn’t authorized. This was completely false. I had already completed the renewal process and had a doctor’s certification that legally allowed me to drive until the new plastic card arrived. So, I was authorized to drive — the problem was their miscommunication and lack of knowledge.
I was in a hurry, but I still did everything possible to resolve the situation. I called the institution, the offices, and even the Motorizzazione Civile, who all confirmed that my documents were fully valid by law. Despite this, the agency still refused to give me the car.
Because of their incompetence, I had to book another car with a different agency — and they accepted my documents immediately.
At the same time, the original agency told me they would refund me. But surprise: the money was taken from my account anyway.
When I called the rental company, they told me to contact DoYouSpain to get my refund. I called them, and the customer service girl was extremely rude. She told me I wouldn’t get a refund because I didn’t show the plastic license — even after I explained that the renewal paper is valid and the agency itself had confirmed this. There was simply no way to reason with her.
This is not about the money — it’s about the injustice. Every country has its own rules regarding driving-license renewal procedures, and customer support should know this. Instead, I faced incompetence, disrespect, and a complete lack of professionalism.
I am speechless. The entire experience was unacceptable, and I will never rent a car with them again.
