I used Heymondo Travel Insurance during my trip and felt secure the entire time. The interface is simple, the price is fair, and support was available when I needed clarification. I appreciated how convenient it was to manage everything directly from my phone, especially while traveling – having everything centralized in the app gave me peace of mind.
The policy options offered good coverage and were easy to customize to my needs, and I found the purchase process smooth and transparent. I also liked that the app provided quick access to assistance if needed, without long waits or complicated steps.
The only area for improvement would be even more clarity in some parts of the policy wording, just to make it easier for users to fully understand specific coverage conditions at a glance. 1/5 - Disappointing and Unreliable Travel Insurance (Heymondo)
⚠️ BEWARE OF AGENT PROMISES! ⚠️ What Heymondo agents assure you before purchase WILL NOT be true when you need to file a claim. This insurance is characterized by non-existent communication and using technicalities to deny coverage.
❌ Medical Emergency Service (Non-Existent 24/7 Support)
Around the third week of my trip, I fell ill. Despite their advertised 24/7 medical attention, their support channels are useless in a real crisis.
Communication Failure: I lost my voice, and they have no alternative channels like WhatsApp or video calls with a doctor—making communication impossible. Their emergency line is strictly for medical emergencies and they will hang up if you try to address anything else.
Delayed and Useless Response: After finally getting an email, their only solution was to recommend two distant clinics three hours away by car, completely ignoring my location and immediate need. They never offer virtual doctor consultation.
Claim Denial: Since I had to resolve the issue myself by going to a local pharmacy, they later stated they would not cover the costs because their 'solution' was for me to travel to those distant centers. They barely respond to emails, often taking until the next day.
❌ Baggage and Assistance (Total Lack of Support)
At the end of my trip, one of my bags was lost during a connecting flight. I tried to contact Heymondo immediately, explaining I had no way to get home without necessary items.
Zero Assistance: I used the emergency number (they hung up), the email, and the app—none of which provided an answer. I was left completely unsupported.
Contradiction and Denial: I was explicitly assured by an agent before buying the policy that coverage extended to the final day, but when I finally got a response the next day, they refused the promised economic compensation. Their justification was that I had already arrived at my country of residence, even though I had nowhere to go without my belongings.
They simply refused to acknowledge the situation or offer any support for the inconvenience, providing a form that resulted in the exact same denial—no compensation because I had already arrived home.
Summary: Heymondo advertises itself as a modern, reliable insurer, but in a real crisis, their channels fail, their staff is inflexible, and they use technicalities to deny claims. I cannot recommend this insurance.

It’s been four months and I still haven’t received my insurance payout from Heymondo despite them acknowledging in writing that they owe me the payment.
I made the claim in August. They wrote it would take up to 15 days to complete.
After 15 days no payment so I emailed again. They said that it would take up to 30 days to complete.
After 30 days no payment so I emailed again. They said they’d ‘lost’ my claim so I emailed it to them again and made sure they confirmed they’d received it (which they did).
After 30 days still no payment so I emailed again. They said they couldn’t pay me as I hadn’t spent enough money on my claim. It turned out they ‘hadn’t received’ half my claim so I emailed it to them again.
A couple of weeks later they emailed me that they’re missing pages from my claim. At this point I refused to email them any part of my claim again as I just had enough. I told them I’d be starting legal action against them.
A couple of weeks later they emailed me that they will pay me (confirming the amount) I just need to email them the invoice from my doctor (again) as they’ve lost it! So I email them that (again) and email them my bank details.
They email me back stating I should be paid ‘in a few days’.
That was a month ago. I’ve emailed them twice more over the month and I always get the same response ‘payment should be received in a few days’.
Over the past four months Heymondo have emailed me from three different email accounts and nearly all emails are signed off by a different name. Most of the emails are written as if AI generated and in broken English.
They’re either one of the most disorganised, unprofessional insurance companies out there or they do deliberate delay tactics to scam their customers. Either way they’re rubbish and I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy.
UPDATE: December 4th - Still no payment received. I've received numerous emails from Heymondo since I submitted this complaint on Trustpilot signed by two different people.
I stand by my original complaint - this company is incompetent to the extreme - even after I publicly submitted this complaint they have continued to engage with me via inadequate, infuriating responses - here on the Trust Pilot site and also to my private email.
The 'response' written below - here on TrustPilot - seems to have been changed THREE times by Heymondo. The first one, signed by Name no.1, was littered with grammatical errors and copied and pasted jargon. Once I pointed this out they seemed to have replaced their response with some better-written drivel from 'Name no.2' now they've resorted to signing it 'The Heymondo Team'.
If only they would spend as much time (and effort) actually paying me the money they owe me, as they do scrapping around trying to make their response to my complaint look half decent...
Name no.1 wrote me an email to my private address claiming that all my documents were received on 1st November. (I have a chain of emails to prove that they were sent on 12th August, confirmed to have been received by Heymondo).
He also claimed I wasn't paid because there was a problem with sending money to my 'foreign' bank account despite the fact that I receive regular payments from people from 'foreign' countries and this bank account is a well-known international bank account.
He also claimed to have attached a receipt proving that the money has been sent to me - of course the receipt wasn't attached! I had to email him pointing this out and then he managed to send it to me second attempt (which I suppose is something?)
Team Heymondo - Thanks for the offer to 'clarify my doubts'. I don't need you to clarify my doubts, my doubts are very well clarified thanks to the appalling customer service I continue to experience from you.

They sell the insurance like it’s 24/7 doctors chat assistance in case you need it, but when I needed it all the doctors (there were only 4) were away, had schedules like certain days, certain hours and since it was a weekend NO ONE was available for the next 12 hrs and I was in Japan so the time zone made it impossible. Had to pay outside consultation. HORRIBLE SERVICE.

I've been paying for Heymondo long stay insurance for almost a year. When I discovered I could no longer renew it, I contacted customer support and they said the longest coverage period is 1 year. That's pretty useless for longer-term digital nomads. On top of that, they consider your "country of residence" wherever you're spending the MOST time, not your country of origin - as a digital nomad I need coverage INSIDE the country where I spend the most time - but they do NOT provide it.
BE CAREFUL!
I tried multiple times to resolve my issues directly with customer support but they are completely useless. They don't listen and don't care. And they certainly would not provide any kind of refund even though they now consider me ineligable. They're more than happy to take your money but when the shiznit hits the fan, then they leave you high and dry. It's too cliche for an insuranc company. But they live up to it.
Not to mention the processing times for a claim is 45 BUSINESS days. What the hell takes that long? This isn't 1942. Everything is electronic. Other insurance companies can process refunds in 72 hours. So they are deliberately delaying claims, and then often going over the period. I've seen other customers get the cold shoulder when they follow up their claim. Just ignored, or hung up on the phone.
It's a nightmare dealing with Heymondo.
Don't fall for the recommendations from "influencers". They are getting paid and probably have never used the service properly. And definitely NEVER made a claim. Anyone who's gone through that hell would want to stay away from Heymondo.
If you're reading this, then it's a sign from the universe to take a u-turn and run away. If you've already been burned by Heymondo as well, then join the club.
UPDATE 25 Nov 2025: The copy-and-paste response from Heymondo is typical of their behaviour. Perhaps it's because they are based in Spain that their grasp of the English language isn't as good as it should be (for this kind of detailed-orientated industry), but they're request for "country of residence" is what other insurance providers called "citizenship" or "country of origin". If they had labelled their form fields more accurately, they would get more accurate information from customers like me.
I have to point out that there is ZERO mention about this "12 month" limit on the Long Stay policy on the public-facing website or in the "general conditions" document provided to me AFTER signing up for the policy. This is a rule that either the support team made up, or it is genuine but being withheld from customers deliberately, and maliciously.
I received 2 messages from Heymondo AFTER I published this review, and they seem to want to listen to me now... even though they were more than happy to ignore me before this. Their behaviour is consistently disingenuous at best, and deceptive at worst. Whenever enough people have been fooled by them and organise a class action, let me know because I'll join in.
UPDATE 4 Dec 2025: I've received several messages from Heymondo and eventually they acknowledged that the Long Stay policy was not valid and as a gesture of goodwill they were willing to refund the full amount that I had paid. That seems reasonable to me, and I've accepted that. This issue is now put to rest.

I am having a TERRIBLE experience with this insurance company. I have been trying to see a gynaecologist with no success: Hey Mondo tells me they will schedule an appointment and they just don't act on it, nor they reply to my follow up emails. Every time I call, either no one picks up or they tell me they are still waiting to hear from their correspondent in Brazil without taking any action in spite of me explaining that it is urgent. It seems like they do not want to provide the service to save money!

Have been waiting for more than 7 weeks for this company to pay a claim. They are very difficult to contact, continually fob me off when I do get in touch, and blame other people. The app is also completely useless if you are trying to make a claim. Have used several travel insurance companies before and never had an issue claiming, will avoid this company in future.
After I left this review the company called me to say they were working on my claim and would keep working on my behalf. As soon as I hung up the phone from them I received an email from the insurance underwriters they use to say my claim was refused as “I didn’t require bed rest or hospital admission”, both of which were untrue but hadn’t been included on my doctors note as it was not stated that it was required.
I will be taking legal action against this company as this entire interaction with them has been a nightmare.
