Used to be good but no longer recommended

I used to love N26 but my wife had a bad experience where her card was fraudulently used in the U.S to buy alcohol while she was asleep in Germany. It took a long time for N26 customer service to fix this. There was a lot of factors that made this very frustrating for us. The fraud happened in December 2024 and wasn't resolved until April 2025. It seemed to be handled by AI bots. My wife submitted various complaints including on twitter. As a result my wife closed her account and I moved most of my money to Revolut. I only leave a small amount of money in N26 now for my long term direct debits. I wouldn't recommend them now.

Edit: The reason I wrote the review and not my wife is because I was asked to review N26 in an email sent to me by N26. Although my wife experienced problems, it affected us both. At one point I had to speak to customer services because the service provided to my wife was so poor and frustrating. You say that: "Our Chargeback team investigates disputes using the Mastercard Chargeback Guide." but the problem was that it was difficult finding a REAL person to talk to who could understand the situation. Perhaps if we started talking to a real person immediately I might have left a better review.

They dropped their rates after I signed…

They dropped their rates after I signed up their 'Metal' plan, new customers get 2% AER, but existing customers only get 1.5% AER. Shop around for other savings accounts that don't penalize existing customers.

EDIT: So no explanation why new customers get 2% and existing customers only get 1.5%.

Would never choose this bank

Would never choose this bank, stay far away from them!

My account was closed by N26, they asked me for a bank account where the remaining funds could be send to. I sent them the requested documents instantly, but I have never received a reply from them! Also still have not received the remaining balance.

Very fraudulent bank who steals your money.

At the moment, you can only pair one device to your account, due to security reasons. So to access the account from a second device or computer, you need to authorize the login on your paired device.

Now satisfied.☺️

My wife and I opened an account in August. My account went immediately into minus for ordering a card. My wife’s account did not because she was forced to pay upfront which is what I was expecting. I did not bring my account up to balance until 2 weeks later. My account then goes into minus again because of minus interest on my account.
In September, I wrote to support and was told that this matter would be looked into. A day later, nothing happened and I called to find out. I was again reassured that all is in order and everything is cared for and I would hear back soon. It is now December and still not a word. When I brought this matter up again, the response was very quick and satisfactory.
Despite the little confusion in the beginning I value this bank’s services and look forward to using them in the future.
