Laura Soderberg reached out immediately after I submitted an inquiry. She was extremely thorough, listened to understand my situation and helped me from start to finish to ensure I got the best rate, closing costs and support to get to my closing date within an expedited timeframe. I would absolutely use Sage again in the future, and would love to work with Laura again.
Avoid Sage Home Loans / WesLend / Lenox Financial at all costs! They tried to bait & switch when we first refinanced by offering no closing costs, but when we received the paperwork they snuck in all kinds closing costs, hidden throughout the contract. When I questioned the costs they became very aggressive and condescending, which was clearly because they assumed a woman wouldn’t be smart enough to catch their shady practices as their demeanor was much more respectful when they were dealing with my husband. After we finally completed the refi well after the promised time frame, they ran my credit again without my approval and harassed me for months to refinance again so they could sell my loan. They’re definitely up to something shady, as the company name has changed from Lenox Financial / WesLend Financial to Sage Home Loans to God knows what now, and have moved their corporate headquarters to various states multiple times over the past 5 years. They also sent a letter a couple of years ago asking for my signature to change handling of the records of my account but also indicating they had no record of my loan. They offered no further explanation aside from harassing letters and recorded calls, but offered me no way to talk to someone about it. Then I received a letter notifying me that my loan had been sold to a new servicer, with no call or explanation, not even a final statement recording the final balance that was transferred to the new servicer. When we called Sage inquiring about the transaction & requesting a final balance, they couldn’t find any record of our loan. The person we spoke to said they would look into it and call us back by end day of day, but we never heard back. They change their websites with each name change as well, and make you use a bizarre portal, making it really difficult to keep track of your loan information. Absolutely horrible experience, they should be investigated!
For starters, I appreciate that Sage has information available online regarding different rate options without having to go through dozens of phone calls and emails. I worked with Paul Grady at Sage Home Loans on a refinance, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the experience. From the beginning, Paul was incredibly helpful, communicative, and responsive. Even when I initially decided to go a different direction, he was never pushy and he simply asked if he could check in from time to time in case he found me a better loan option.
I really appreciated that he relied on facts and clear information rather than pressure or sales tactics. And sure enough, he later reached out with a better offer. Even if the offer had been the same as the one I was planning on, I would have switched to Paul because the vibes were just better and I didn't feel intimidated or pressured like I did with several of the other companies that I reached out to when I started this process.
Paul’s professionalism, honesty, and genuine commitment to helping his clients stand out. His team was also great to work with. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a loan!

I tried applying online with Sage Home Loans over a month ago (13Sep25) & have yet to be able to figure out how to contact anyone there (21Oct25). I've tried phone numbers I find online, but no one ever answers. I uploaded all requested documents over 4 weeks ago & it says the next step is to talk with my loan officer, but I can't (for the life of me) find out how to make that happen! I try to connect online, but always get the message that no one is available at this time. Some of the fields that are required to fill out on their site when trying to connect with a loan officer are blank, unlabeled fields... I finally figured out that they are for our name. Website is trash. Doesn't work right. It shouldn't be this hard. I thought we would've closed a couple weeks ago. I'm done trying. Called my old broker last night. He always treated us right. Should've went with him in the first place.
Matt Scheppmann especially but every person I worked with was extremely nice, responsive and proactive in helping me to handle every aspect of getting my loan from preapproval to closing. Every person involved in the process including the realtors and closing company also commented on how great the experience was and on top of that the rates were extremely competitive in the current market. I will and have recommended Sage to other friends and family because of how easy and seamless this process was.
Paul was outstanding and helped us get through all of the steps for a refinance with Sage. In past experiences, after the initial conversations I've always been handed off to the processor early in the process, never to hear from the officer again. In the case with Paul, even after this handoff he was regularly checking in with me to make sure everything was moving along as expected. If given the opportunity, I highly recommend working with Paul on mortgage financing!

Honestly, the worst loan experience possible. Both Joseph Leanard (loan officer) and Gloria Wiltbank ( lead loan processor) should be terminated and reported to the real estate board immediately. Absolutely disgraceful. Worst part is Sage probably won’t make any corrections. Loan Depot was a little pricier but the service, integrity and professionalism beat Sage, hands down! Zero professionalism, zero integrity and probably out of business soon.
Working with Sage Home Loans was an experience I didn’t think I could get from a lender. Laura, my lender, and Dionne, the processor, were both personable and friendly. I was pleasantly surprised by how promptly they responded to my messages and calls. Every step of the way, they worked quickly and efficiently to move me forward in the process.
