Very reasonably priced. Unfortunately the toilet did not work on either outbound or return journeys. Timetable was over ambitious, there was no way the journey could be achieved in the time given with all of the stops included.

Dear National Express Customer Service Team,
I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a highly unsafe and unacceptable incident that occurred today on your services from London Stansted.
Shortly after entering the motorway, the windscreen of the bus became fogged. The driver pulled onto the hard shoulder. Within a short time, the windscreen had completely cleared again – as documented in the attached photo – yet we remained stationary on the hard shoulder for approximately 30 minutes.
Throughout this time, the driver provided no information as to why we had to remain in such a dangerous position, especially given that visibility inside the bus was fully restored. At any moment, he could have driven to a safer location, such as the next exit or service area.
The bus was not secured or protected in any way while we were stopped. Cars and lorries passed us at high speed, exposing all passengers to serious risk.
The driver eventually requested a replacement bus. When this replacement vehicle arrived and stopped roughly 200 metres ahead on the motorway, we were able to drive there without any difficulty. There was no technical issue preventing the bus from moving safely.
Despite several requests from passengers to conduct the transfer in a safer area, the drivers began unloading luggage and then passengers directly on the motorway, again without any traffic management or protection. This behaviour was incredibly dangerous and demonstrated a complete disregard for passenger safety.
Given the severity of this incident, I am requesting:
1. A full refund for this journey due to the unsafe and irresponsible conduct.
2. A formal review and reprimand of both drivers involved.
3. Assurance that National Express will address this situation and ensure that such negligent behaviour does not occur again.
If the drivers involved do not grasp the seriousness of their actions, they should not be operating a bus responsible for the safety of dozens of passengers.

Far better than Britsh Trains
Although travelling by NE coach anywhere in the UK can be a slower way to get from A to B, National Express make it, comfortable, affordable and reliable, and always better than shoddy, unreliable and overpriced British trains which are by far, the worst in Europe. Well done National Express.
